Features
  • Ferritic stainless steel wire mesh.
  • Magnetic in all conditions.
  • Max operating temperature of ~1500°F.
  • Resists oxidation at 1600°F temperatures, though strength loss occurs above 1300°F.
  • Can be cut, formed, and welded.
Applications

430 stainless steel wire cloth is principally used with food products, chemicals, and appliances given its previously mentioned resistance to nitric and organic acids. 430 has similar resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting as 304, thus 304 is selected over 430 where improved welding and cold forming ability is required. When improved welding, cold forming, and significantly better corrosion resistance is required, 316 is selected over 430. In a cost critical setting that can accept lower corrosion resistance, 410L may be chosen over 430.
