Phosphor bronze 5% A wire mesh (C51000 phos bronze wire mesh) is a bronze alloy nominally comprised of 94.8% copper, 5% tin, and 0.2% phosphorus, with small additions of zinc (0.15%), iron (0.05%), and lead (0.025%). The 5% tin helps to increase its strength and resistance to corrosion, and 0.2% phosphorus helps to increase its stiffness and wear resistance. As such, phosphor bronze is used as opposed to 90-10 commercial bronze when weaving fine bronze meshes with small wire diameters (i.e. 200 mesh .0021″ dia phos bronze). C510 phos bronze wire mesh possesses a superior combination of strength and ductility compared to other brass (H65 brass) and bronze (90-10 commercial bronze) wire cloth materials. When compared to C519 phos bronze and C51980 phos bronze, C510 phos bronze is a weaker material.

Features
Some characteristics of phosphor bronze 5% A wire cloth which dictate its use are:
Infrequently used phosphor bronze alloy for wire cloth (C519 phos bronze being the most used).
Weaker than other phos bronze alloys.
Superior strength and ductility vs. brass and commercial bronze alloys.
Non-magnetic in all forms.
Rich bronze (i.e. brown-red) in color.
Withstands outdoor exposure without rusting.
Good thermal and electrical conductivity.
Antimicrobial.
Can be cut, formed, and welded.
