Phosphor bronze 6% wire mesh (C51900 phos bronze wire mesh) is a bronze alloy nominally comprised of 93.8% copper, 6% tin, and 0.2% phosphorus, with small additions of zinc (0.15%), iron (0.05%), and lead (0.025%). The 6% tin helps to increase its strength and resistance to corrosion, and 0.2% phosphorus helps to increase its stiffness and wear resistance. As such, phosphor bronze is used as opposed to 90-10 commercial bronze when weaving fine bronze meshes with small wire diameters (i.e. 200 mesh .0021″ dia phos bronze). C519 phos bronze wire mesh possesses a superior combination of strength and ductility compared to other brass (H65 yellow brass) and bronze (90-10 commercial bronze) wire cloth materials. C519 phos bronze is stronger than C510 phos bronze, but weaker than C51980 phos bronze.
